I decided to try making an infographic for my first topic: Learning Theories. My master's program was focused entirely on learning theories and design principles, so learning theory is a new animal for me. Ithe material can seem quite dense, so the process of creating the infographic will help me (I hope) aument my understanding o the material by allowing me to internalize the concepts as i go about finding relationships, and trying to decide on an oganizational and hierarchical scheme.

This is just a mock up (wire frame), and i am almost certain that my final will probably not look anything like this one :)

By the way, I used an open source software app called "Pencil" for wire-framing. It is really easy to use and runs on multiple platforms. I recommend it to anyone looking for a free and easy to use wire-frame application.

  1. Hi Ricardo,

I really like what you have done with your wireframe and appreciate the app tip. What program do you envision using to actually design your final infographic? Or, have you had success using a program in the past to design one? I have a good idea of what mine will look like and started a wireframe in Adobe Photoshop but did not know how I would create the various images I had intended on using.

  2. Hi Jeff,
    .
I'm going to do the final in InDesign and a little photoshop.

if you are looking for pre-made icons try The Noun Project (http://thenounproject.com/) they have tons of open source high-res vector icons. I love to make my own images, but when time is limited I go for open source stuff so that I can speed through.

You might also want to check out ARTStor, it is like JSTOR but it's images instead of articles. It requires a subscription, but either your local library, or IU's library should be a subscriber. ARTStor has high-res images that you can download for educational use. So as long as you are not profitting from them you can use them under fair use.
