Hi all, this is my second semester in the IST EdD program. I'm not much of a blogger, so I apologize for the plain look on this blog.

My name is Manuel Ricardo Flores, but I go by my middle name, so you'll see me signing my name as "ricardo"

A bit about me; I have a bachelors in liberal studies with a minor in education, and a masters in learning design and technology from some fancy university. I currently work for Cañada College in Redwood City California as an instructional designer/distance education coordinator.

Although I work in a community college my interests are broad, and I try to challenge myself to work on projects that lie outside the scope of my current work.

I love  a strong cup of coffee as much as I love listening to NPR. My hobbies include tennis, running, doodling, and building electronics projects.

I look forward to all the learning we will do together in this class!

  1. Nice to see you again Ricardo...

I'm interested to see how "Team Tire's" project will be expanded on and enhanced in R541!

    1. Hi Amber! likewise, nice to see you here!

I think we exhausted that topic already. All team members had good knowledge how to do it, and we got lucky that everyone had a good disposition and were very democratic and capable, so we actually finished early. We could certainly make minor tweaks for improvement, but I don't think it warrants a whole semester. besides, most of the team mates are not in this class.

  2. Greetings Ricardo,

It's so great to have you in class this semester! I'm also a runner (I'm attempting my second 1/2 marathon since my son was born last year in September). Do you go for races or are you more of a trail guy?

Once you obtain the EdD, do you have thoughts about where you'd like to go or what you'd like to do?

    1. I like running on loose-dirt hilly trails, and luckily for me we have lots of those here in the SF Bay Area. I'm just coming back from an injury I sustained in judo practice that took me over 3 years to recover from, but now that I have my knee back I think I'm done with judo and wil stick to sports more appropriate for my age :)

I got several goals, one of them is to teach part time either in the community college system or in the CSU system, and I also want to start some sort of for-profit venture so that I can bring money in to fund non-profits in the developing world. I got a bunch of half-baked ideas in my mind, but they are becoming clearer. I'm happy to be in this course, and happy to be in the program!
